Fifth Annual Pub Crawl
March 2006

At 12:00 noon, the torch arrived at the Glenside Pub.  Experienced Pub Crawlers were already there, waiting for their chance to buy the 2006 T-Shirt and start the day off right.
Realizing the importance of the event, the Glenside Pub assigned their "A" team to man the bar.  Ryan and Monk made sure the crawlers were taken care of.
The Glenside Pub saw their first celebrity arrive as Bode Miller proudly displayed the Gold Medal that he earned in Torino.
As the crowd started growing, the first Olympic rings were passed out to the crawlers.  For many crawlers, this was the first of 5 rings that they would earn.
As the 2 hours at the Glenside Pub came to a close, the rookie and veteran Pub Crawlers were gaining enthusiasm and numbers.
As Monk saluted the crawlers, the first Parade of Athletes made their way to the Blue Comet.

The Blue Comet was the first bar that had appointed judges.  Judges were given Pub Crawl medals that they would award at their discretion.
Crawlers earned their second rink (pink) from the Comet and some had lunch with new crawlers unaware of the event intending on having a quiet lunch at the Glenside Pub...
The judges, ideitified by their laurel wreaths worked the crowd, while a brain trust in the back of the Comet worked on a potential theme for next year's crawl...
Finally, it was time for the first Gold Medal event, the ladies luge.  The audience was captivated as the rules were being explained...
The competion, simple, drink a 4 ounce sex on the beach, while in the luge position of the guy on the back of the T-Shirt.  Many ladies worried about spilling the drink on their light colored shirts...
While the winner was smart enough to use a straw to blow away the competition.
As the first ladies Gold medal was awarded, it was the men were delighted...
Crawlers even travelled from Jersey to be a part of the Glenside Pub Crawl.
Glenside Pub Crawl medals were then awarded based on the interpretation of the judges as to what feats were 'medal worthy.  Some judges felt that drinking events are worthy of a medal...
Other judges preferred more physical elements, such as gymnastics (which, by the way, IS a Summer Olympic event, but who cares)...
Medal winners took pride in their medals, especially when they accepted any and all challenges to take their medal...
New friends and old were celebrating the Olympics, Pub Crawl Style, at the Blue Comet...
As our time at the Comet came to a close, medals started to be awarded on the basis of 'artistic impression', or in the words of the judge, "I have no idea what she was doing, but she deserved a medal for doing it".
Next up, the long parade to Plush...
